Accessibility
Accessibility statement.
I want this site to be usable by everyone, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or other assistive technology.
Standard
This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the current international standard. WCAG 2.2 AA includes the WCAG 2.1 AA requirements referenced by the Israeli Standard SI 5568 (under the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013) and by the European standard EN 301 549.
What has been done
- Every page and control can be used with a keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a clearly visible focus outline.
- A “Skip to content” link is the first thing keyboard users reach on every page.
- Text and controls meet AA colour-contrast requirements in both the light and the dark theme.
- Pages reflow without sideways scrolling down to 320 pixels wide, so they stay usable at up to 400% zoom.
- Headings, landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer) and the current page are marked up for screen readers.
- Images have text alternatives; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
- Form fields have visible labels, required fields are marked, and error messages are announced as soon as they appear.
- Links that open a new tab say so, and animation is turned off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- The sticky header never hides the item you’re focused on, and every button and link is at least 24 pixels or spaced well apart.
- Help is always in the same place: the contact link is in the header and footer of every page.
- If a form has an error, everything you typed is kept, so you never have to enter it twice.
- The site is available in English and Hebrew. Each page declares its language so screen readers pronounce it correctly, and Hebrew pages read right to left.
Known limitations
- The client login screens are provided by Clerk. While the login system is in development mode, it shows a “Development mode” label with low colour contrast. This label goes away when the login moves to production.
- The spam check on the contact form is Cloudflare Turnstile, a third-party widget. If it blocks you, email me directly instead.
- The research paper linked from this site is an English PDF hosted on arXiv, which I don’t control.
How it was checked
Automated WCAG 2.2 AA testing (axe) of every page in both languages and both themes, plus manual checks of keyboard use (forwards and backwards), focus visibility under the sticky header, target sizes, zoom and narrow screens, in a current version of Microsoft Edge.
